Count it. Tag it. Never count it blind again.
Pair the Inveck app with pre-printed unique QR code or barcode tags, or a portable label printer that prints either on the spot, so every counted item leaves the floor tagged and already reconciled.
Sample QR code and barcode labels for illustration. The QR codes are real and scannable.
Pick the approach that fits the count
Tag everything once for repeat counts, or replace missing labels as you go.
Pre-printed unique tags
- A series of unique tag numbers (QR or barcode, e.g. INV-000001 onwards) is printed in advance, on the material that suits the item
- Tag rolls are issued to each team member, and Inveck records which series each person holds
- At the item: find it in Inveck, record the count and condition, paste the next tag and scan it
- Inveck binds that tag to the item, location, quantity, date and team member, so the next verification is a single scan
On-the-spot printing
- A portable Bluetooth thermal printer (2 to 3 inch, belt-clip or shoulder strap) travels with each counting team
- Readable tags are simply scanned; missing or damaged ones are replaced the moment the item is counted
- The tag carries item or asset code, description, location, counted quantity, date and counter ID
- Batch and expiry can be printed where relevant, and HOLD tags can flag stock that needs action
One touch: counted and tagged
Untagged items get a printed tag before the counter moves on.
Pre-printed tags: tag once, then scan
Order the series
Unique numbers (e.g. INV-000001 onwards) printed in advance on paper, polyester, tamper-evident or foil stock.
Issue rolls
Each team member gets a roll; Inveck records which series range each person holds.
Find and count
Scan the existing label or type the code, then record the count and condition.
Paste and scan
Paste the next tag and scan it: Inveck binds it to the item, location, quantity, date and member.
Account for every tag
Unused, damaged or wasted tags are reported back, so every number is accounted for.
What you need on the floor
Hardware
An Android or iOS phone or tablet with Inveck, plus either a roll of pre-printed tags or a portable Bluetooth thermal printer for each counting team.
Tag content
QR or barcode with the item or asset code, description, location, counted quantity, date and counter ID; batch and expiry where relevant.
Label stock
Paper for short-life stock tags; polyester or tamper-evident labels for fixed assets; foil and heat-resistant stock where the environment needs it.
Pre-printed tags vs on-the-spot printing
Pre-printed tags suit a one-time tagging drive that makes later counts scan-only; portable printing suits counts where only some items need a new label.
| Factor | Pre-printed unique tags | On-the-spot printing |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment on the floor | Phone + tag roll | Phone + portable thermal printer |
| Tag content | Unique number only; details linked in Inveck | Item details printed on the tag |
| Best for | Tagging every item or asset once, for repeat counts | Replacing missing or damaged labels during a count |
| Tag material | Any, incl. tamper-evident, metal-foil, heat-resistant | Thermal paper or synthetic labels |
| Control | Every tag number issued, used or returned is tracked | Tags created as needed |
| Upfront effort | Order tag series in advance | Printer setup and consumables |

Is a printer required?
Not for pre-printed tags: a phone and a roll of tags is enough. A portable thermal printer is only needed for on-the-spot printing, where a tag is created the moment an item without a usable label is counted.
What can a tag carry?
A QR or barcode with the item or asset code, description, location, counted quantity, date and counter ID, plus batch and expiry where relevant. With pre-printed tags the tag carries a unique number and the details are linked to it in Inveck.
Which label material can be used?
Paper for short-life stock tags; polyester or tamper-evident labels for fixed assets. Metal-foil tags suit dies and tooling, and heat- and moisture-resistant stock suits WIP areas.
How are pre-printed tags controlled?
Each team member is issued a series range and Inveck records it. Unused, damaged or wasted tags are reported back, so every number in the series is accounted for.
Which printers are supported?
The typical setup is a portable Bluetooth thermal printer (2 to 3 inch, belt-clip or shoulder strap) carried by each counting team. Tell us your printer model or requirement and we will confirm the setup during the walkthrough.
